Here are our five tips for finding a local yoga class:
The most effective way to first choose a local yoga class is to go where your friends are going. Most likely you are similar enough in your needs, wants, physical ability, and attitude to be in agreement about what feels good. Also, practicing with friends is fun, effective, and begins to build a shared experience within the subtler realms.
If you do not have any friends that practice yoga, then choose a class that meets at a time and location that you will be able to attend with ease. A large part of success is simply consistency.
If you are not resonating with the teacher at the convenient time and place, and you have no yogi friends, ask the teacher for a recommendation. She or he will most likely know where to direct you.
Drop in yoga class prices at studios can seem quite high. If price is the primary barrier, look for introductory specials. Most gyms offer yoga classes, and often classes are easy to find at alternative locations like community centers, churches, and dance studios. More and more companies are offering on site yoga classes as well.
Google and Yelp can be helpful. However, there is just something unique and irreplaceable about discovering the answer through one on one relationship. Trust me, if you want to find a local yoga teacher and class, one will find you.
