Filming our Pain Free Challenge

We’re here at the studio right now filming our latest yoga challenge, Pain Free in 7 Days with Peter Sterios.

When our bodies hurt, the temptation can be to retract, pull in, and even stop moving. Yet, pain is often the result of disconnection so this natural instinct often exacerbates the problem. Very little changes when we ignore it.

Yoga is the breaking of the bonds with suffering, not pretending they are not there. What we pay attention to changes.

We don't recommend this challenge for those who are new to yoga. Almost counterintuitive, the sequences are made to meet the aging and experienced yogi—a population who, according to mythology, should not be experiencing pain. Hah!

When your knees start to refuse to bend, your hips no longer have their familiar range, or one of your shoulders no longer wants to be wrapped behind the back, it is not unusual for us to mistrust or even turn against our beloved yoga practice. We forget that the primary tool we have for change is awareness, and we forget that the asana practice is one of the most reliable ways to move focus our attention to where it hurts.

Peter’s yoga is weird and wonderful and leaves no joint, muscle, or bodily moment untouched. The invitation is to move closer and re-establish a relationship of communication. We are not trying to do what we used to do. We are not trying to stay young through our attachment to our yoga past. The challenge will assist your confidence to show up fresh, engage, and discover the magic of yoga anew.

Choosing to be pain-free is the same as choosing to be in pain. Habit forms so quickly around what we repeat and the brain does not know the difference between what is “good” for us and “bad” for us. We hope you will join us with all your aches, pains, and fears later this spring when this Pain Free Challenge launches.
If you are in pain right now and newer to yoga, drop into The Happy Back Show today.
