Tamika Caston-Miller

Read About This Teacher Tamika Caston-Miller is yoga educator living the life of urban farmer and conscious community builder in Houston, Texas. Founder of The Ranch Houston and Ashe Yoga Collective, regular contributor to Yoga Journal, and board member of Accessible Yoga, she curates accessible and inclusive yoga experiences in service to collective healing and community repair through the lens of rest, resilience, and integration.

Tamika was first introduced to movement-based yoga in 1993 while studying at the University of Texas at Austin. She drew on her years of classical vocal performance to merge breath practices with movement and unlock a new way of exploring her body. Shaped by a decade-long chronic hip pain journey, Tamika began seeing yoga not only as a complement to a joyful life, but an access point for pain management, mobility, and rest.

Tamika is passionate about applying yoga's ancient principles to modern life, which has framed her understanding of yoga as a practice of right relationship with others, the planet, and Self. Her efforts to promote inclusive and accessible yoga were recognized by SVYASA USA (Houston) in 2024.

Tamika's embodied, authentic, and grounded teaching style is informed by those she counts as her most influential teachers and mentors, Dr. Gail Parker, Tracee Stanley, Paul Grilley, Indu Arora, Jivana Heyman, and Judith Hansen Lasater. Having completed more than 1000 hours of training across modalities, Tamika specializes in trauma-informed Somatic Flow, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Yoga Nidra, and invites you to slow down, pause, feel, rest, and build skills that will serve on and off the mat.
