We all hold a great deal of tension in the muscles of the face, jaw and neck. The practice of yoga nidra begins with a deep relaxation of the body which gives us greater access to the more subtle internal world. Open your eyes, the face and jaw, drop the tongue, feel the upper palate lift, lips soft. Without moving the muscles of the face, just conjure the idea of a smile. Notice that sensation is not limited to the body but can move out into the room and into each moment of your living.
Namaste.
