My morning routine usually starts around 6 o'clock or so is when the eyes open, maybe 5 45, just the way my work is scheduled, that's about when I wake up, but there's usually about 15 to 20 minutes of doing some reading, and then it's waking up, shaking off the sleep, head upstairs, build my smoothie, and get ready for the day. My running routine is going to be all about getting those shoes on, getting my head right, putting down the day at the same time, just feeling the body working. Balboa Park is such a beautiful spot for running, there's so much to see, so much going on, lots of people around there, architecture, all the museums that are around there, and it's also surrounded with beautiful nature on all sides. So you can put your run route together so that you're running through the forest on dirt track, come out through Balboa itself, the park, and then around the other side now you're on grass and lawn and through the pine trees out there. It's just a wonderful experience, and San Diego being sunny almost all year, perfect match.

Running to me is a lot like yoga. When I'm on trail, I'm actually feeling how my foot is striking the floor, what part of my foot or feet are striking the floor, how that whole contact with the floor, the impact, is going all the way up through my body. So I find running to be very similar to a yoga practice or bringing in a meditative aspect in that I'm very present in my experience, making little micro adjustments. I love it in that sense. It's very reflective of yoga to me.
