Description

Yoga happens in the junction point where different energies can meet and can be harmonized. James recites and translates verses 2.11 - 2.13 of the Gita. Here, Krishna starts teaching on the battlefield, advising Arjuna that "the wise" do not mourn for the living or the dead. Change is inevitable. When something is unavoidable just be steady, otherwise you will suffer.

With the guidance of my Sanskrit teacher (Marcia Solomon), I am starting to look more closely at the second chapter of the Gītā. I am finding the whole "package" presented in this series - chanting, translation, and commentary, extremely useful. 2.11 and 2.12 are my translation assignment for this week - and coming back a few times to James discussion is super helpful in deepening my understanding. Many thanks for bringing this series to YA.

These verses bring home to me to not get upset about change that is inevitable - I sometimes think of "the things that have gone" or "the people that have gone" from my life with a certain sadness or longing - but remembering change in that way is a big help, in your words James "at its essence everything is the undying stuff of consciousness"..
