I was 15 years old and I was at my parents was at the gym and for some reason I felt compelled to walk up the stairs into a yoga class and it happened to be for seniors. In the moment that I was put into Shavasana and the instructor said, the teacher said, you know, bring your attention towards your breath. It was this moment of what I would consider awareness. The breath is probably the most important and vital part of yoga and the practice one of the most important parts. Just a simple practice of bringing bringing our attention towards the breath, it's magical. It's still a mystery to me how I how I breathe. You know, am I breathing or am I being breathed is a question that our teacher Ravi Rivendre points out to us. So every time I notice my breath it tends to change and I notice that my breath will vary from moment to moment depending on what I'm thinking about or if I'm irritated or if I'm feeling relaxed. It's slow and steady so it's fluctuating at this point. But then as soon as I notice that I can consciously engage in the process of watching it and noticing how it slows down and shifts and it becomes more steady. It's a very intimate practice to be with the breath and all of its mystery and magic. There's a lot I have to learn.
