Lately in the dialogue in the spinal cord injury group, there's been this dialogue of able-bodied. And what does that mean? Do we as disabled folks long to be able-bodied? Or do we long for the able-bodied folks to have more acceptance of disability, even though it might not be as crippling as something you can't see? Like somebody who's an alcoholic, or severely depressed, or whatever it is that might be internally that you can't see.
Whereas in a wheelchair, or with other disabilities, you can easily visually see them. Is there a stigma against that, and what is the language that we're using as a culture? I haven't figured that one out yet.
