Our morning practice is designed to honor the life giving energy of the sun and allow our inner fire to be stoked. Do all three practices or choose the one(s) that suit you best. Happy Equinox!
Breath of Fire
We begin with the heating and inspiring Kapalabhati Pranayama (Breath of Fire or Skull Shining Breath). Kira guides us through four rounds of 27 with the invitation to do as little or as much as feels correct for you. Let the fire generated fuel your gratitude for the sun.
27 Salutes to the Sun
Alana invites us to move through 27 Sun Salutations, allowing the sun to inspire us from within. With our friend the Ujjayi breath, she joyfully guides through 9 rounds of Surya Namaskar A, 9 variations of Surya Namaskar B, and 9 versions of Surya Namaskar C. She offers modifications, adaptations, empathetic breath, and even moments of rest. The practice demands self-care, surrender, and devotion. Thoughtful participation will result in a lightness of being and joy. Allow for a long savasana.
108 Chants to the Sun
Julia completes our morning practice with 108 rounds of Om Suryaya Namaha (I bow to Energies of the Sun) to honor the compassionate life-giving powers of the sun and illuminate the light within. Chant along with Julia externally or internally.
